Why do Women's Aspirations and Confidence Plummet within Two Years on the Job?
Harvard Business Review video by Bain & Company argues women are given the negative message that they don't fit the corporate ideal, and they receive less supervisor support. In some cases, the women interviewed were told flat-out that they wouldn't make it at the company.
While the video and accompany article, "Companies Drain Women’s Ambition After Only 2 Years," by Orit Gadiesh and Julie Coffman of Bain & Company didn't specifically address law firms and corporate legal departments, I'm sure many women lawyers -- as well as some men, whose numbers show a much smaller decrease in confidence and ambition -- can relate. Change is overdue (and slowly coming).
